There are many opportunities for you to get involved in the church. Here is a list of some possible ways you could help the congregation here at Northland. (See Bulletin for others)
Sunday School/Wednesday night: See Lesha Davis
Classroom Helper or Teacher Substitute or Teacher
Children’s Church: See Rex McGuire or Mindi Crane
(This service is conducted in the Fellowship Hall during Sunday morning worship.)
“Marshall” – Help w/supervision of kids especially during skit
Bible Trivia - Play Bible Trivia with kids while staff sets up for skit
Drama – Play a character in the skit performed for the kids
Donate candy or small prizes for kids to take w/on Sunday mornings
Help type the skit summary/review for kids to take home
Youth Group: At present there is not an acti ve youth group at Northland. We are in the beginning stages of a youth/associate minister search. A large part of the initial tasks assigned to the person hired will be to do start-up work for a youth group.
Breakfast Club: See Carole McGuire
Donate money: designate “breakfast club” on your check
Prepare/Serve breakfast to Winnetonka High School youth on Thursday mornings before school
Pick up donated food from grocery stores and other partners
Purchase needed food w/church funds from grocery stores
Prepare food in advance for breakfast club (brown sausage, cook bacon, make sausage gravy, etc.)
NOTE: Due to the way North Kansas City School District re-opened the high schools in the district in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not able to operate Breakfast Club this semester.
Nursery Service: See Lesha Davis
Crib and toddler nursery attendant during Sunday morning worship
Worship Team: See Angela Fisher
Select/Lead songs for Sunday morning worship
Help type Power Point slides for Sunday mornings
Read scripture or other special reading for Sunday morning
Instrumental or vocal music
A/V operations
Missions Emphasis Team: See Carole McGuire
Help organize missions emphasis activities.
Help the congregation keep abreast of what our supported missionary organizations are doing.
Provide input to the elders regarding status of missions emphasis activities and recommendations for changes in where our missions support goes.
Contribute by designating “missions” on your check. Church sponsored missions include: Central Christian College of the Bible, KU Campus Christians and Sudan African Missions. 5th Sundays missions offering go 50% to Northland Assistance Center and 50% to NCC Youth fund
Cleaning/Building Maintenance/Grounds
Clean church building (vacuum, dust, wash toys in nursery, etc.)
Help with repairs at church building
Help with painting/updating of décor
Plant flowers/shrubs outside church
Help with mowing/grounds upkeep
Help with snow/ice removal
Help meet needs of the congregation: Visit members who are shut-ins
Call members who have been missing on Sundays to see if they have needs
Send cards to members: See Judy Rawie (for b-day, anniversary, sympathy, etc.)
Visitation of visitors to the church
Prayer Warriors/Prayer Chain: See Jane Wiegand
Pray for needs of church (worldwide)
To join the prayer chain or become a captain
Communion Clean-up: See Dianna Dodd.
Clean-up of communion supplies after Sunday Services.
Food Group Teams: See Lesha Davis
Join a food group to provide a meal when a church member needs one due to coming home from hospital or before/after a funeral.
Donate to Winnetonka High School Health Room: See Carole McGuire
Place needed items in donation box near coat rack at bottom of stairs (Graham crackers, saltine crackers, cereal bars, granola bars, starlight mints, cheese crackers w/cheese) NO PEANUTS OR PEANUT BUTTER
Donate to Rachael House: See Cheryl Hiatt
Place needed items in donation box near coat rack at bottom of stairs.
Donate Labels From Best Choice and Box Tops for Education to Show-Me Youth Home (put labels in canister on shelf above coat rack at bottom of stairs)
Donate previous issues of Lookout/Standard Magazine, devotionals and Bible study books to send to the Philippines. Place in donation box on shelf at bottom of stairs.
